IN COOPERATION
WITH SMALL CRAFT HARBOURS BRANCH, THE FALSE CREEK HARBOUR AUTHORITY IS PLANNING ON SEVERAL
INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES THIS YEAR. SCHEDULED PROJECTS INCLUDE: THE INSTALLATION OF A GAS
BOILER; MAJOR ELECTRICAL UPGRADE; AND UPGRADES TO THE MAIN AND FINGER FLOATS. You may have noticed lately that work is being done at several locations around the harbour. These projects are part of our ongoing plan to provide the best service possible to harbour patrons. The projects scheduled for this year are: Gas Fired Boiler- Installation is nearly complete on a natural gas hot water boiler. This system replaced the electrical hot water tank that was in the washrooms. The hot water tank and supply lines were scheduled for replacement. The switch to natural gas should result in savings of approximately $4,000 a year. Electrical Upgrade- Funding has been approved for major electrical upgrade for the harbour. This project would upgrade the main electrical supply lines and upgrade the distribution system on the floats. This upgrade will entail the installation of a new electrical supply line and transformer for the harbour. This reduces the problems we are currently experiencing with our offsite transformer. Main Float Upgrade- Over the next three years this project will upgrade and retrofit the main floats. This involves new flotation where required and decking replacement. Finger Float upgrade Also a long term project, this upgrade will replace aging finger floats with new and if possible allow for additional slips to be created on C" float. Locker Floor Sealing We are in the process of sealing the floors in the storage lockers to control dust. If you would like your locker floor sealed, please contact the harbour office. These projects will be ongoing during the summer and fall of this year. Whenever possible work is done to minimize the impact to harbour operations and our customers. There will, however, be periods when some harbour services may be interrupted. The FCHA apologizes for any inconvenience that work may cause and appreciates your cooperation. Further upgrade information can be obtained from the office. |
